Craig T. Chapman, 75, died at 7:45 p.m. Saturday, August 4, 2012 at Eunice Smith Nursing Home in Alton. Born June 14, 1937 in Rumford, Maine, he was the son of Floyd T. and Catherine B. (Clunie) Chapman.
Craig was very active in high school music clubs and sports. He especially enjoyed the marching band. Craig attained his BS degree in Economics and Business Management from Boston University. He applied his business skills in the hotel business by establishing sound business practices at nationally recognized as well as smaller family owned hotels.
On June 4, 1987 on Mackinac Island, MI, he married the former Mary Jane Berry. She survives. Also surviving is a daughter, Kimberly Nichole Chapman of Mineral, VA, a granddaughter, Teagan Rose Chapman, a brother and sister-in-law, Jeff and Barbara Chapman of Farmingdale, ME, and a sister, Karen I. Gurschick of St. John, NB, Canada. He was preceded in death by his parents.
Visitation will be from 10:00 a.m. until time of memorial service at 11:00 a.m. Wednesday, August 8, 2012 at Gent Funeral Home in Alton. Burial will be at Upper Alton Cemetery. Memorials may be made to BJC Hospice or the Washington University Corneal Transplant Department.
