Clifford Louis "Cliff" Kaminsky

Clifford Louis "Cliff" Kaminsky, 60, passed away at 5:00 a.m., Saturday, December 26, 2015 in the comfort of his home.He was born in Chicago on March 26, 1955, the son of Lee & Phyllis (Newman) Kaminsky.Cliff graduated from Niles West High School in suburban Chicago, and obtained his Bachelors in Music Education from Illinois State University in Normal.  He began employment as the band director at Beardstown High School in 1977, where he remained until moving to Jerseyville in 1989.  He became the band director at Jersey Community High School in Jerseyville, and eventually became the schools athletic director as well.  He retired in 2013 as the Dean of Students.Cliff was an active and supportive member of the Jerseyville community, participating in many school and civic activities, including Westlake Country Club where he has served on numerous boards with a stint as President, and also served as a very entertaining and colorful bartender.  He also served as an effective President of the Panther Athletic Club, a supporter of the Band Boosters, and was also a referee, emcee, musician, coach, educator and a die hard Chicago Cubs fan, as well as a active member in the Illinois Music Educators Association, where he served in various positions, ranging from District President to State Board Member, and was a recipient of the prestigious Mary Hoffman Award.Smiles, laughter and good times were in abundance when Cliff was present, as he was one of a kind... alot of things to alot of people.  He cherished his family, and would most like to be remembered as a loving husband, father and Pa.He married the former Diana Hobrock on March 22, 1980 in Beardstown, their marriage was blessed with their two sons and two grandchildren.Surviving are his wife, Diana Kaminsky of Jerseyville; two sons & daughters in law, Josh & Nicole Kaminksy of Oswego, and Robert & Erica Kaminsky of Birmingham, Al.; two grandchildren, Hailey and Lucas Kaminsky; his parents, Lee & PhyllisKaminsky of Scottsdale, Arizona; two sisters & a brother in law, Susan & Bill Sakash of Oak Brook and Ricki VanBuren of Arizona; and two brothers & a sister in law, Jerry & Debbie Kaminsky of Hoffman Estates and Dennis Kaminsky.Cliff is also survived by his father in law & mother in law, Robert & Janet Hobrock of Beardstown; along with brothers and sisters in law, Debbie & Jim Icenogle of Beardstown, Darlene & Rick Hammond of Canton, Bobbie Logsdon and DavidHobrock both of Beardstown; along with numerous nieces and nephews on both sides of the family.Visitation for family and friends will be held from 3 to 8 p.m., Wednesday at the Crawford Funeral Home in Jerseyville.A Celebration of Life, Cliff style, will be held beginning at 3 p.m., on Saturday, January 2, 2016 at the Westlake County Club in Jerseyville.In lieu of flowers and plants, memorials in Cliff's honor can be given to either the Fine Arts Department at Jersey Community High School, or to Mr. Allen Snyder's woods class at JCHS in recognition of their acts of kindness and thoughtfulness shown to Cliff and his family.
