Clarence Wayne Cloninger, 90, passed away Saturday, December 12, 2020 at Morningside of Godfrey, where he has been a resident for 3 years.
Born Dec. 20, 1929 in Winchester, IL, he was a twin son of Amelia Taylor and Clarence Leroy Cloninger.
He married Shirley Sue Radcliffe Sept. 14, 1952 in Wood River, IL. They celebrated 64 years of marriage prior to her death on Apr. 21, 2017. Both were members of St. Paul United Methodist Church in Rosewood Heights.
He was a 1949 graduate of Wood River Township High School. He was a U.S. Air Force veteran of the Korean War, serving from 1950-1953. He retired from Colonial Baking Company as Restaurant and Institutional Sales Manager.
He was preceded in death by his parents; wife; stepfather, Elbert Tedrick; twin brother, Dwayne; brother, Glen; son, Gregory; and daughter, Nancy. He is survived by his daughter and son-in-law, Kathryn and John Theen of O'Fallon, IL; 7 grandchildren, Alicia Stalcup of O'Fallon, Jeremy Stalcup and his wife Irene of Norfolk, VA, Christopher Stalcup and his wife Rachael of Bethalto, Jeffrey Cloninger and his wife Laura of East Alton, Brian Cloninger and his wife Amanda of Bethalto, Kyle Walker and his wife Tamara of Kearney, MO, and Ryan Theen and his wife Jama of Collinsville. He is also survived by 11 great grandchildren.
Due to the pandemic, visitation and funeral services will, unfortunately, be restricted to family only.
Burial will be at Rose Lawn Memory Gardens in Bethalto.
