Claire McBride

Alton |

Claire M. McBride, 82, entered her heavenly home on Tuesday, March 29, 2022, with family by her side.

She was born October 19, 1939, in St. Louis, MO to Edward and Clara (Nissen) Lanzet. On January 3, 2004, she married Michael “Mickey” McBride. Claire and Mickey had many great years together, enjoyed traveling, and lots of laughs with many good friends. The simplest pleasures in life brought her great joy; like an afternoon drive with Mickey to Grafton to grab an ice cream and sit by the river.

She was a loving, caring, and giving wife, mother, grandmother, great grandmother, cousin, and friend Claire treasured her family and loved spending time with them. Her grandchildren and great-grandchildren were her pride and joy. While she was an only child, her many beloved cousins were like brothers and sisters.

Claire retired as the office manager for Dale Neudecker State Farm Insurance Agency after 37 years of service. She made many lifelong friends and acquaintances during her tenure at the agency. When she was out and about, it was not unusual for her to run into someone that knew Claire.

Claire found joy in helping others. She was a member of Epsilon Sigma Alpha Sorority for over 60 years. Their philanthropy focused on St. Jude Children’s Research Hospital and dedicated time with the EMH Girls Club, providing activities for special needs young adults for over 40 years.

Living with Rheumatoid arthritis, Claire found it therapeutic to be in the water. For over 10 years she was an Arthritis Water Exercise Instructor at Lewis & Clark Community College. She taught her last class just before the 2021 Christmas break.
Claire was a member at St. Paul’s Episcopal Church in Alton.

Along with her husband, she is survived by her two sons, Billy Moyer (Sharon) of Brighton and Donald Moyer (Joette) of Alton, and her daughter, Holly Lindstrom (Michael) of Ft. Worth, TX. Also surviving are Mickey’s children, Carol McArthur (David) of Crestwood, Sharon McBride of Alton, and Ed McBride of Alton; 14 grandchildren and 9 great-grandchildren.

Claire is preceded in death by her parents, Edward and Clara Lanzet.

A memorial service will be held at Alton Wood River Sportsman’s Club on Saturday, April 16, 2022, at 11:30 a.m. with Pastor David Schultz officiating. Her Celebration of Life will follow at 12:30 p.m. In lieu of flowers, Memorials may be made to http://giftfunds.stjude.org/Claire_McBride
