Cindy Lynn Harshbarger

Cindy Lynn Harshbarger, 51, passed away unexpectedly at 1:04 pm Thursday, March 17, 2011 at Alton Memorial Hospital. 

She was born on December 9, 1959 in Alton, IL, the daughter of Frank Carver and Jean (Madrey) Bourland. 

She married Gary Harshbarger on December 9, 1978 in Godfrey.  He survives. 

She was a homemaker most of her life.  She was a member of Cornerstone Assembly of God Church in Bethalto where she previously was a Sunday School teacher. She volunteered at the Hope Center in Cottage Hills and a St. Louis Food Pantry. 

In addition to her husband and mother, Jean Bourland of Alton, she is survived by her children and their spouses, Gary Lee Harshbarger of Chandler, AZ, Chris Harshbarger and his fiancé’ Michelle Evans of Godfrey, Sara Lynn and Quentin Wagner of Jerseyville and Scott and Whitney Harshbarger of Wood River; five grandchildren, Jaiden Davies, Faith Wagner, Cory Harshbarger, Kaleb Harshbarger and Hannah Wagner; a sister, Robin Simpson of New Delhi; a brother and sister-in-law, Jeff and Angie Carver of Godfrey; her step mother, Betty Healy of New Delhi; a step sister, Stephanie and her nieces and nephews.

She was preceded in death by her father and a step sister, Paula. 

Visitation will be from 4 pm to 8 pm Monday, March 21, 2011 at Cornerstone Assembly of God Church, 196 S. Moreland Rd, Bethalto, IL.  Funeral services will be at 11 am Tuesday, March 22, 2011 at the church with Pastor Phil Schneider officiating. 

Burial will follow at Short Cemetery in Cottage Hills. 

Memorials may be given to Cornerstone Assembly of God Church.
