Christine Dunn

Jerseyville |

With heavy hearts, we announce the passing of a beloved mother, Christine Sue Dunn, at the age of 70, on September 19, 2023. She left this world surrounded by her family at her side. Christine was born on July 29, 1953, in Carrollton and was the daughter of the late Paul Edward and Alberta Marie (Richter) Brangenberg. She resided at Jerseyville Estates.

Christine grew up in Calhoun County and was a 1972 graduate of Calhoun High School. She was a remarkable woman with a fun-loving spirit and a "tell it like it is" personality, a beacon of warmth and compassion.

Her favorite activities included going to the park to feed the birds, squirrels, and rabbits. She loved playing cards, bingo, and watching game shows. Listening to Elvis Presley and oldies music, as well as collecting Elvis Presley memorabilia, were other cherished pastimes. Her love for buffalo fish sandwiches was more than a culinary preference; it was a testament to her simple pleasures and a reminder of the joy she found in life's little things. A card was always in the mail for her family and friends' birthdays, as she had a remarkable memory for birthdays.

In addition to all of this, Christine was known for her remarkable kindness. She enjoyed helping people out and doing what she could for others even though she had very little herself. She leaves behind a legacy of love, thoughtfulness, and a big heart that will forever inspire us to be better people.

May she find eternal peace in the embrace of the angels, and may her love forever ripple through our lives.

In her loving memory, she is survived by her two cherished children, James Edward Hoos and his devoted wife, Jamie Moon Hoos of Atlanta, GA; as well as her beloved daughter, Casey Dawn Martin, and her caring husband, Jeremy Martin of Beardstown, IL. She leaves behind a legacy of love through her five adored grandchildren: Amber, Cody, Joey, Brandon, and Nicole. Her sister, Lisa Drainer, of Dow, IL, and two nephews, Justin Timmermeier and Elijah Timmermeier, also fondly remember her. Regrettably, she was preceded in death by her parents and her dear niece, Amanda Timmermeier.

Visitation will be Saturday, September 23, 2023, at Gress, Kallal, and Schaaf Funeral Home in Hardin from 10:00 a.m. until time of service at 11:00 a.m.

Burial will follow at St. Anselm’s Cemetery in Kampsville, IL.

Memorials can be made to St. Anselm’s Cemetery.
