Christian "Chris" Eddings, 72, of Gillespie, IL, formerly of Troy, IL, passed away on Monday, May 5, 2025.
Chris was born in East St. Louis to the late Robert D. Eddings and Bonnie J (Hotz) Eddings. Although he was born in 1952, his life truly began when he married his wife of 42 years, Angie Eddings, whom he met as childhood neighbors in Collinsville, IL.
Chris graduated from Assumption High School in 1970. Chris was always a hard and dedicated worker beginning his career as a manager of a Kmart in Belleville, IL before moving on to the Carpenters Union in St. Louis, MO. He later retired after working for the City of Troy, IL until 2012.
Chris was graced with an amazing sense of humor and never met a stranger. He loved to camp, go antiquing, enjoy Mexican cuisine with his wife, barbeque for his friends and family, and was a lifelong St. Louis Blues fan. He was also a member of the Illinois Pottery Club. But most of all in his later years, he loved watching his granddaughter, Ava and the Gillespie Miners play softball. He was a cherished husband, father, brother, and grandfather.
Surviving are his wife, Angela of East Gillespie, IL, daughter Amanda (Michael) Parish of Gillespie, IL, son, Daniel Eddings of Troy, IL, granddaughter, Ava Parish of Gillespie, IL, brother, Robert (Katherine) Eddings of Washington, sister, Jennifer (late Todd) Powers of Colorado, mother in law, Brenda Megl of Collinsville, IL, sister in law, Tammy Gorsuch of Collinsville, IL, among other cherished nieces, nephews, cousins and step grandchildren (Austin & Mckenzie Parish).
He is preceded in death by his parents, Robert and Bonnie Eddings and brother in law, Todd Powers.
A celebration of life will be held at a later date.
