Chris Alan Williams, 63, was peacefully taken home at 4:20 a.m. on Sunday, February 23, 2025, at Mercy Hospital in St. Louis, MO, with his daughters by his side.
Chris was born on June 17, 1961, in Jerseyville, IL, the son of the late Orville "Ed" and Janet (Breden) Williams.
He graduated from Calhoun High School and went on to work as a machinist for Cope Plastics, from which he retired in 2023. Chris spent his final years with his dog Remo at his home by the Mississippi, in which he took great pride. He enjoyed fishing, mushroom hunting, gardening, and listening to good music with great friends over a cold beer. He had mastered the art of barbecuing pork steaks, never taking life too seriously, always keeping a sense of humor, and those around him laughing. Sometimes referred to as "happy legs," he truly marched to the beat of his own drum.
Chris is survived by his two daughters, Betsy Williams (Craig Mackelden), and Carley Williams (Cody Rose); his former spouse, Julie Grammer; five grandchildren, Hazel, Lincoln, Contessa, Willow, and Carter; two sisters, Anne (Darrell) Becker, and Lynn (Jim "Tinker") Snyder; two brothers, John (Cheryl) Williams, and Mark (Angie) Williams; a sister-in-law, Lisa Williams; an aunt, Louise Siemer; an uncle, John Vic (Terre) Williams; and several nieces and nephews.
In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his brother, Bruce Edward Williams.
Per his wishes, cremation rites will be accorded by Elias, Kallal and Schaaf Crematory in Godfrey, IL.
A Celebration of Life will be held at the Knights of Columbus Hall in Hardin on March 16 at 12pm. Memorials may be made to the family.
