Charlotte Ruth Bradley, 84, passed away at 10:40 p.m. Thursday, January 21, 2010 at Bethalto Care Center. Born Aug. 4, 1925 in Macoupin County, Ill., she was the daughter of Avery David and Winnie Ruth (Davis) Long.
She married Charles Bradley Jan. 4, 1944 in Wood River. He survives. A sales clerk at Famous-Barr, she retired in 1988 after 10 years.
In addition to her husband, she is survived by a daughter and son-in-law, Susie and Perry Lorts of Bethalto; two sons and daughters-in-law, Steve and Nancy Bradley and Stan and Sue Bradley, all of Bethalto; 8 grandchildren, Kristin and Kellie Bradley, Terra, Chad and Chala Bradley, and Kyle, Kory and Kerry Lorts; a great grandchild, Taylor Bradley; and a half brother, Lonnie Long of Greenfield. She was preceded in death by her parents; a son, Dennis Charles Bradley; and three sisters, Virginia Mae Bates, Lodema Meeks, and Wilda Dunham.
Visitation will be 4-7 p.m. Sunday, Jan. 24 at Paynic Home for Funerals in Rosewood Heights, where services will be held at 10 a.m. Monday, Jan. 25. Interment will follow at Rose Lawn Memory Gardens in Bethalto. Memorials may be made to the First Baptist Church of Rosewood Heights or the Alzheimer's Association.
