Charlotte E. Gillson, 85, passed away at 10:46pm, Monday, December 6, 2010 at Eldercare, of Alton, IL.
She was born on October 2, 1925 in to the late William M. and Cecil E. (Fisher) Hyman.
She married William D. Gillson on July 29, 1945 in Alton, IL at Stanford Baptist Church. He preceded her in death on March 15, 1985.
Charlotte was a volunteer at the Salvation Army in Alton and also attended church there. She loved crafts, yard sales, spending time in her rose garden, making pumpkin bread and enjoying all of her grandchildren. He family was her life and she will be sadly missed.
She is survived by one son and daughter-in-law, Ricky S. & Sandra Gillson, of Chillicothe, MO; a daughter and son-in-law, Carolyn J. & Frank Hartley of Alton; twelve grandchildren; twenty-one great-grandchildren; eight great-great grandchildren; One sister, Carol Jean Cochran of Alton; four brothers and their wives, Clifford & Pauline Hyman of Brighton, IL, James & Carol Hyman of Bethalto, IL, Jack & Shirley Hyman of Moro, IL, and Donald Hyman of Benld, IL.
She was preceded in death by her parents; 1st Husband William D. Gillson; 2nd husband, Jerome DeVore who died in 1997; one daughter Bonnie Gillson; one son, Terry Gillson; one sister, Irene Smith and one brother, Albert Hyman.
Visitation will be 4 to 7 pm on Thursday, December 9, 2010 at Elias, Kallal and Schaaf Funeral Home in Alton.
Funeral services will be at 10 am on Friday, December 10, 2010 at Elias, Kallal and Schaaf Funeral Home in Alton, with Major Donna Van Hoesen officiating.
Burial will follow at Upper Alton Cemetery in Alton.
Memorials may be made to the Salvation Army in Alton and or the Activity Department at Eldercare Nursing Home.
