Charles W. Geisler, 75, went to be with the Lord at 7:45 p.m. Wednesday, December 22, 2010 at Alton Memorial Hospital. Born February 5, 1935 in Roe, Arkansas, he was the son of Carl A. and Mary Martha (Fisher) Geisler. He retired in 1975 from Owens Illinois Glass Company.
He was an avid hunter and fisherman and a charter member of the Migratory Water Fowl Hunters, Inc. He was known to many as Arky. His love for duck hunting was passed on to his son, grandchildren and great grandchildren. He was a member of the Harmony Baptist Church.
He married the former Katherine J. Nordyke on March 19, 1954. She survives. He is also survived by his son and daughter-in-law, David and Kathy Geisler of Hardin, his daughter and son-in-law, Sherri and John Locke of Wood River, granddaughter, Tiffany Geisler, a grandson and his wife, Joshua and Sara Geisler, three great grandchildren, Andrew, Lucas and Candice, his sister, Shirley Buehler, and his brother and his wife, Kevin and Janet Geisler. He was preceded in death by his parents, four sons, Chris Allen, Darrell Wayne, Charles Dean and Roland Dwayne Geisler, his sister, Pansy Coates and a brother, Carl Geisler.
Visitation will be from 4:00-8:00 p.m. Sunday, December 26, 2010 at Gent Funeral Home in Alton. Funeral services will be at 10:00 a.m. Monday, December 27, 2010 at the Harmony Baptist Church, 3014 W. Delmar, Godfrey, IL. Pastor Ralph Blake will officiate. Burial will be at Upper Alton Cemetery. Memorials may be made to the Migratory Water Fowl Hunters, Inc. or the American Diabetes Association.
