In addition to family history, he was a long time enthusiast of the Civil War. He visited dozens of battlefields, memorials, and reenactments. He was a long time member of the Civil War round table hosted locally.
In his later years, he worked a second career in IT first for Karmak in Carlinville, and then for the Illinois State Police where he met his wife of the last 8 years, Darlene. David spent his retirement behind the handle bars of his various motorcycles and out on the golf course with good friend, Dave Schneller.
David is preceded in death by his parents and brother in law, George Contratto. He is survived by his children, Lauren Baker (Jason), Sarah Rinker (Drew) as well as his wife, Darlene.
