Charles R. “Bob” Hodge, age 59 died at 2:14 PM on Friday, November 29 at Barnes-Jewish Hospital in St. Louis.
Bob was born on August 26, 1954 in Alton and was the son of the late Charles A. and Marjorie (Kleinschnittger) Hodge. He was a 1972 graduate of Marquette Catholic High School in Alton and a member of St. Mary’s Catholic Church. Bob enjoyed his family, boating, grandchildren and cars. He was a long time member of the Alton Motorboat Club where he had been past Commodore for three times, a member of the Alton Eagles FOE 254 and the Riverbend Growth Association. Bob owned and operated Hodge Service in Alton for 39 years.
On September 16, 1977 he married the former Julie Krug and St. Mary’s Church in Alton and she survives.
Also surviving are two children and their spouses; Ashley Walter (Derek) of Bethalto and Dustin Hodge (Abbie) of Brighton, two grandsons; Austin and Corbin Hodge, one brother; Michael Hodge (Beatrice) of Dallas and a sister; Lindsey Armstrong (Donald) of Seattle, his in laws; Sandra Krug of Godfrey and Clayton Krug (Paulette) of Godfrey and a brother in law; Michael Krug (Deborah) of Alton.
Visitation will be from 4:00 – 8:00 PM Monday at Gent Funeral Home in Alton. A funeral Mass will be at 10:00 AM on Tuesday at St. Mary’s Catholic Church in Alton with Fr. Jim Walther as Celebrant. Burial will be at Valhalla Memorial Park in Godfrey.
Memorials may be made to the American Diabetes Association.
