Charles Lindley "Chuck" Taynor

Charles Lindley "Chuck" Taynor, 83, passed away on Sunday, September 5, 2010 at 8:40 a.m. at Alton Memorial Hospital. Chuck was born on March 28, 1927 in Godfrey, the son of Leroy and Cecil (Campbell) Taynor. Charles was in the Navy and served in WWII.

He worked at Shell Oil Company, owned Beth-Tronics T.V. Repair shop and worked for IBEW 649 where he retired. He was also a member of the VFW Post 1308.

On April 28, 1978 in Bowling Green, MO, he married the former Eugenia Ross Love. She survives. Also surviving are three sons and two daughters, Cheryl and Dennis Wilschetz of Moro, David of Wood River, Linda and Krishan Singh of Naperville, Lee of Godfrey and Mike of Wood River, two step sons and their wives, Lonnie and Linda Love of Girard and Roger and Lisa Love of Stafford, Virginia, sister, Lois Reidt Monroe of Godfrey, 16 grandchildren and 19 great grandchildren. He was preceded in death by his parents.

Visitation will be from 4:00-8:00 p.m. Wednesday at Gent Funeral Home in Alton where funeral services will be at 10:30 a.m. Thursday with military rites by the VFW Post 1308. Pastor John Shelton will officiate. Burial will be private. Honorary pallbearers will be Trevor Taynor, Travis Bertels, Jordon Taynor, Jason Rainwater, Rich Love and Kris Singh.
