Charles H. Wiley, 78, died at 4:05 p.m. Sunday, June 30, 2013 at his home in Alton under the care of St. Anthony’s Hospice. Born May 27, 1935 in Ft. Atkinson, Wisconsin, he was the son of Lloyd and Ida (Blank) Wiley. He served in the U.S. Army during the Korean War. He was a member of St. Ambrose Catholic Church in Godfrey and the Alton Eagles FOE #254. He retired from the Alton Post Office as a mail clerk in 1997. On February 21, 1976 he married the former Ellen A. Horn. She survives. Also surviving are three step-daughters, Donna Dixon of Alton, Laura Wallendorf of Alton, and Sara Geisen (Roy) of Godfrey, two step-sons, Thomas Dixon of Florida, and W. Jeffrey Dixon (Dianne) of Alton, 10 grandchildren, Megan Hartz, Ben Klasner, Brian and Steven Wallendorf, Adam, Alex, Andrew, Aaron, Avery, and Anthony Geisen, two great grandchildren, Claire and Natalie Hartz, a brother, Patrick Wiley (Carolyn) of Kentucky, and a sister, Carol Wogsland (Wayne) of Texas. He was preceded in death by his parents, a son-in-law, David Wallendorf, a brother, Lyn Staudi, and two sisters, Marion Haney and Joan Schleicher. Visitation will be from 6:00-8:00 p.m. Tuesday, July 2, 2013 at Gent Funeral Home in Alton. A Mass of Christian burial will be at 11:00 a.m. Wednesday, July 3, 2013 at St. Ambrose Catholic Church in Godfrey. Father Steve Pohlman will officiate. Burial will be at St. Patrick’s Cemetery in Godfrey. Memorials may be made to St. Ambrose Catholic Church or St. Anthony’s Hospice.
