Charles (Chuck) E. Hatton Sr. passed away at 5:25 pm, Tuesday, July 16, 2013, at Christian North East Hospital in St. Louis with his family by his side.
He was born May 26, 1938, in Alton, Illinois, the son of the late Charles H. and Margaret (Ziegler) Hatton.
He married Eula (Rita) Rogers on September 1, 1961 in Alton. She survives.
Chuck served his country in the U.S. Navy on the U.S.S. Boston. He was employed as a Tow Captain at Norman Brothers and Lewis and Clark Marina for over 30 yrs. He was a member of the 1st Assembly of God Church in East Alton, IL. He greatly enjoyed spending time with his family and grandchildren.
He is survived by his wife Rita and four daughters; Cheryl Johnson of Godfrey, IL, Meg and her spouse Scott Rustin of Troy, IL, Patty Gibbons of Alton, IL. and Diana and her spouse Tony Swift of Jerseyville, IL, two sons; Charles Hatton Jr. of Troy, Il, and Jesse Hatton of Alton, Il, ten grandchildren; Kenny Swift, Heather Swift, Amber Swift, Beth Swift, Joshua Robertson, Joey Pembrook, Jacob Pembrook, Jared Schooley, Judson Wedding and Jennifer Hatton, one brother; Les and his spouse Judy Hatton of Bethalto, Il. many great grandchildren and many nieces and nephews.
He was preceded in death by his parents, one grandson; Jeremy Hatton, two sister’s; Pat Neal and Janice Kay Ziegler, and a son-in-law; Greg Johnson.
In celebration of his life visitation will be Friday, July 19, 2013 from 11 am till time of service at 1:30 pm, at the Elias, Kallal and Schaaf Funeral Home in Alton, with the Rev. Timothy Keller officiating.
Burial will follow at Valhalla Memorial Park in Godfrey.
