Charles Byron Stuart, 84, died at 5:50 p.m. Monday, June 4, 2012 at his home in Alton. Born September 14, 1927 in North Lubec, Maine, he was the son of Emery and Elizabeth (Kelley) Stuart. He was in the U.S. Army 3rd Armored Division and served two tours of duty in Vietnam. He taught electronics in the Army and received the Bronze Star and numerous other service awards.

He retired from the Army on September 1, 1974 after 23 years of service. After his retirement from the military, he lived for several years in Wichita, Kansas. Surviving are two brothers, Ivan Stuart (Helen) of Enfield, Connecticut, and Emmerson Stuart of Plainville, Connecticut. He was preceded in death by his parents, a brother, Clayton Stuart and a sister, Patty. Charles was a wonderful friend to all who knew him and he will be dearly missed.
