After a lengthy illness, Charles Bryan “Chuck” Schwartz”, 71, of Bryan, went to be with the Lord on Sunday, November 24, 2013. Chuck was born on April 11, 1942, in Alton, Illinois to Charles Lenus Schwartz and Kathleen Schwartz.
As an infant, Chuck moved to Bryan, Texas with his parents and lived there while his father attended Texas A&M University College of Veterinary Medicine. His family eventually moved back to Alton where his father opened up his own veterinary practice.
Chuck was a graduate of Alton High School in Alton, Illinois. After high school, Chuck accepted a position with the Coca-Cola Bottling Company. He spent years there serving the company in various roles. Chuck later accepted a sales position with True Manufacturing Company where he was one of the top salesmen with the company. Chuck eventually received the opportunity to be a plant manager for Coca-Cola Bottling Company in Casper, Wyoming.
Chuck moved his family to Bryan, Texas in 1981 to open his own paint contracting business. He felt that Bryan would be a great place to for his family to prosper. He had a great love for Bryan, TX, and Texas A&M University that his father had instilled in him while growing up.
Chuck had a great passion for Texas A&M football and history. He particularly was enthusiastic about the history of the Civil War. His was most proud to be called “Dad” and “Grandpa”. He enjoyed coaching both youth and adult recreational sports. He also enjoyed being involved in the lives of his grandchildren and attending their many activities.
Chuck is survived by his wife of 46 years, Janis Schwartz; two sons, Charles Bryan Schwartz II, his wife Sherry and their children, Taylor and Gage; and Cory Dean Schwartz, his wife Cara, and their children, Kyle and Kameron; and a daughter, Kelly Stamm and her husband, Fred, and their family, of Hudson, TX; three brothers, Victor of Nebraska; Terry and Guy of Illinois; two sisters, Sylvia and Kathleen of Illinois; and numerous nieces and nephews.
He was preceded in death by his parents, Charles Lenus and Kathleen Schwartz; a brother, Randy Schwartz; and his grandparents, Charles and Essie May Schwartz, all of Alton, Illinois.
A time for family to receive friends will be from 5:00-7:00 pm, on Tuesday, November 26, 2013, at Hillier Funeral Home. A service to celebrate Chuck’s life will be held at 10:00 am on Wednesday, November 27, 2013, also at Hillier.
