Bill went home to be with the Lord on November 27,2012.

He was born on January 26, 1937 in Alton, Illinois and was married on May 28, 1966 to his loving wife Mary. He was preceded in death by his parents Henry and Rachel (Sooy) Tucker.

Bill is survived by his brother Gerald Tucker and wife Shirley and Bill’s children Charles “Chuck” Tucker and his wife Beth; Kathy Crane and her husband David; Carmen Shields and her husband Gerald; and Jannetta Stockton as well as grandchildren Kyle, Jeremy, Maria, Ashley and Nicholas.

Bill and Mary were members of Vaughn Hill Church of Christ 1966-2010 and are currently members at Godfrey Church of Christ. Bill enjoyed serving the Lord in any way he could.

Bill attended Alton High School and went on to serve in the Army Reserves. He worked at McDonald Douglas 13 years, and owned/ran the Sinclair and Shell Service Stations on Godfrey Road from 1970-1975, and retired from Albrecht Hamlin Chevrolet in 2000.

Bill had a love for racing. He drove the Albrecht Hamlin Chevrolet pace car at the Godfrey speedway in Godfrey, IL and at Tri City Speedway in Granite City, IL. He was also heavily involved with CJR Motorsports since his retirement.

Since Bill retired he enjoyed traveling and especially enjoyed meeting up with the guys to walk at Alton Square.

Visitation will be from 4:00-8:00 p.m. on Thursday, November 29, 2012 at Gent Funeral Home and a Celebration of his life will be held at the Godfrey Church of Christ on Friday November 30, 2012 at 10:00 a.m. with James Lampley officiating. Burial will be at Valhalla Cemetery, Godfrey, IL. Memorials may be made out to the Godfrey Church of Christ. Online guestbook and information may be found at www.gentfuneralhome.com
