Jerseyville |

Charles Robert “Bob” Barnard, 80, formerly of Murrayville, passed away Saturday, June 1, 2024 at Jerseyville Nursing & Rehabilitation Center in Jerseyville.

He was born on June 12, 1943 in Winchester, Illinois, one of three children born to the late Charles Edwin and Mabel Ester (Flynn) Barnard.

He enlisted with the United States Army, where he served our Country honorably, while stationed in Korea.

Following his return home from the service, he settled in Murrayville, where he spent the majority of his life, prior to relocating to Jerseyville, where he has remained for the past 2.5 years.

Bob began his working career at the former Passavant Area Hospital in Jacksonville, prior to accepting employment with the State of Illinois, where he worked in various capacities at the Jacksonville Development Center, retiring as Supervisor after 30+ years of service.

He married the former Celestine Ann (Carter) Craigmiles on July 17, 1988 in Las Vegas, Nevada, and together they have shared in many wonderful memories together throughout their nearly 36 years of marriage.

In his younger years, Bob enjoyed motorcycle riding and refurbishing cars. In his later years, he found contentment in spending time outdoors, tinkering in his garage or spending time sitting on the porch of his home in Murrayville.

Surviving are his wife, Ann Barnard of Jerseyville; four step-children, Darin (Andrea) Craigmiles of Kane, Scott (Kim) Craigmiles of Jerseyville, Lyndsey Craigmiles Brooks of Jacksonville and Mark Craigmiles and his companion, Janelle White, of Jacksonville; as well as eight grandchildren, Jaden, Dylan, Nolan, Owen, Reese, Avery, JaMya and Montrel.

In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by two sisters, Karen and Wanda Barnard.

Per his wishes, no public services will be held.
