Charles A. Jeffrreys, 81, went home to be with the Lord at 10:03 am Sunday, January 8, 2012 at Rosewood Care Center in Alton.
He was born on December 17, 1930 in Marion, KY, the son of Charles A. & Elsie (Hornas) Jeffreys SR.
He married Georgia Brooks on May 26, 1951 in East Alton, IL. She survives.
He served in the Air Force and then went to work for Olin Corporation as an Electrician where he retired in 1995. He was a member of New Wine Family Church in Wood River; he loved photography and enjoyed gardening. He loved to take two vacations every year to the mountains and enjoyed his great-grandchildren.
He is survived by his wife, Georgia Jeffreys of Cottage Hills, one daughter and son-in-law, Pam & Bruce Stewart of Cottage Hills, one son and daughter-in-law, Chris & Julia Jeffreys of Brighton, IL; six grandchildren, Jeremy Jeffreys and his wife, Lish, Ryan Jeffreys, Amanda McDonald and her husband, Joe, Nick Shaper and his wife, Courtney, and Shawna & Holly Stewart; seven great-grandchildren, Brady McDonald, Adriana Jeffreys, Abby McDonald, Brooklyn Jeffreys, Erica Jeffreys, Arya Schaper and Makenzie Jeffreys; and one brother and sister-in-law, Ron & Florence Jeffreys of Fairview Heights, IL.
In celebration of his life, visitation will be from 11 am until time of funeral services at 1 pm Tuesday, January 10, 2012 at Elias, Kallal and Schaaf \Funeral Home in Bethalto with Pastor Daryl Dolby officiating.
Burial will follow at Rose Lawn Memory Gardens in Bethalto with military honors.
