Catherine J. Bryant, 75, died at 11:30 p.m. Sunday, February 14, 2016 at Rosewood Care Center in Alton. Born July 28, 1940 in Alton she was the daughter of the late Clarence Retzer and Marian (Harshbarger) Stallings. She worked as a legal secretary in Alton for several years and also as a field coordinator for Senior Companions. She was a member of Elm Street Presbyterian Church in Alton. On March 26, 1960 she married Ronald Bryant in Harford. He preceded her in death on November 7, 1993. Surviving are five children, R. Scott Bryant of Alton, Julie Ann Wehling (John) of Wildwood, MO, Audrey Stewart (Mark) of Godfrey, Jean Bryant (Brad Reynolds) of Alton, and Carol Bryant (Don Reynolds) of Salisbury, MD, and four grandchildren Zachary and Jacob Wehling and Taylor and Chandler Reynolds. Also surviving is a brother, John Retzer and two sisters, Nancy Kleeman and Mary Coleman. Visitation will be from 4:00-8:00 p.m. Thursday, February 18, 2016 at Gent Funeral Home in Alton where funeral services will be at 10:00 a.m. Friday, February 19, 2016. Reverend Bill Veith will officiate. Burial will be at Valhalla Memorial Park in Godfrey. Memorials may be made to Elm Street Presbyterian Church.
