Catherine Gaumer, 90, of Glen Carbon, IL, formerly of Granite City, IL died at 4:55 p.m. Sun. Mar. 30, 2025 at Addington Place in Edwardsville, IL.
She was born Sept. 17, 1934 in West Frankfort, IL to the late George and Mae (Putnik) Amisch Sr.
Catherine retired from Granite City Steel as an accountant after almost 40 years of service. She had been a member of B.P.W. – Business Professional Women in Granite City as well as an active supporter of the Red Cross where she had served as a chairwoman for 3 years.
She is survived by a son, Steven (Jayne) Gaumer of Glen Carbon, 2 grandchildren, Michael (Hannah) Gaumer and Elizabeth Gaumer, a brother, Samuel Amisch, and special nieces and nephews.
In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by 2 brothers, George and Chris Amisch, and a sister, Zora Kamm.
Catherine made a gift of her body to Washington University in St. Louis, MO. The family will hold a celebration of her life at a later date.
Memorials may be made to the American Red Cross or Family Hospice of Belleville.
