Carroll Eugene Evans, 75, died at 2:00 p.m., Thursday, January 24, 2013 at the Jerseyville Nursing & Rehabilitation in Jerseyville from complications of multiple myeloma.He was born in Carrollton on July 9, 1937, and was one of four children born to the late Emmert & Alpha (Elam) Evans.He graduated from Carrollton Community High School, and was a strong believer in education.  He obtained is Masters in Business Management Information Systems from Southern Illinois University, and began a long and dedicated career with Boeing where he retired from Information Systems after 53 years.  He also had strong ties to his roots, and enjoyed his farm in the Carrollton area for many years.He was previously married to the former Wanda Schofield, and together they were the parents of two daughters.Surviving are his two daughters & a son in law, Sherry & Bob Conreux of Alton and Shelly Hanko of Bethalto; four grandchildren, Angela Capps, and her husband, Joe Buffa of St. Louis, Mike Capps, Michelle Hanko and Shannon Hanko all of Bethalto; a sister, Lou Greelings of Atlanta, Ga.; a brother, Norman Evans of Chicago; numerous nieces and nephews; a some very special friends and neighbors who were very good to him, Tom & Marcia Weinman, and their children, Matt,and his companion, Erin, and their son Brock, Derek & Sara all of Eldred,and another special caregiver and friend, Christy Barkley of Medora.In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by a brother, Clarence Evans.Visitation will be conducted from 1 p.m. Tuesday until time of funeral services at 3 p.m., at the Crawford Funeral Home in Jerseyville, with Rev Mark Hofferber officiating.Burial will be in the Carrollton City Cemetery.In lieu of any flowers and plants, memorials may be given to the JCH Lifesavers Team for the Greene County Survivors Dinner which Carroll enjoyed for the past eight years.
