Carolynn Marie (Wheeler) Lee, age 69, left this world on Friday, June 1, 2013 to be with her Heavenly Father.
She was born on April 26, 1944 in Los Angeles, CA, the daughter of Vincent P. (deceased) & Catherine M. (Smith) Wheeler, she survives in Alton.
On July 1, 1962 she married William Edward Lee in Wood River; they celebrated 50 years of marriage last July. He survives.
They had four children that she loved very much: Michael Lee of Alton, Debra Lee of Alton, Catherine “Trina” and husband David Harris of Godfrey, and Billie Jo Lee of Alton.
She was the proud grandmother of Heather Lee, Vincent and Brandi Brinson, and William “Billy” Harris. She also cherished two red-headed great grandchildren Vincent Brinson, Jr. and Brendan Lee.
She also leaves behind two brothers and sisters-in-law, Patrick and Marcia Wheeler, Michael and Barb Wheeler, all of Godfrey, and a very special best friend, Carol Cannavan of Wood River.
She worked for Alton Memorial Hospital and Beverly Farms. She enjoyed fishing, riding with her husband on their motorcycle, and playing games with her grandchildren.
Carolynn loved life and was the life of the party at any gathering. There was not much that she wouldn’t do. Her crazy and, sometimes, embarrassing laugh will be deeply missed but she was just being herself and loving life. She has only left this life to be at rest in a better one.
In celebration of her life, visitation will be from 4 to 8 pm Thursday, June 6, 2013 at Staten-Fine Funeral Home in Alton.
Funeral service will be at 10 am on Friday, June 7, 2013 at St. Mary’s Catholic Church in Alton.
Burial will be at Godfrey Cemetery in Godfrey, IL.
