Carolyn Marie Herzon, 79, passed away Sunday, June 1, 2025, at Christian Northeast Hospital in St. Louis, MO.
She was born on July 22, 1945, in Fowler, CO the daughter of Carrol Strider and Jennie Lois (Waddington) Travis. Carolyn married Ralph Parks and he passed away in 2012. She then married Charles Herzon on October 31, 2015, in Alton and he survives.
Carolyn was a long term member of the Assembly of God Church in Bethalto. She made many mission trips overseas. She was a devoted Cardinals Baseball fan and enjoyed going to games. Carolyn enjoyed traveling. She put herself through the Lewis and Clark Nursing Program, and then earned her Bachelor Degree through McKendree College. Carolyn worked as a nurse at Alton Memorial Hospital for 27 years. Many will remember Carolyn from her time as Executive Director at Arms of Love Pregnancy Center.
In addition to her husband, Charles; she is survived by two sons and their wives, Randy and Bonnie Parks of Bethalto, and Rick and Sherry Parks of Florida; one sister, Barb Rodgers; and six grandchildren, Eric parks, Aaron Parks, Travis and Terezka Parks, Noah Parks, Lynsie and Everett Noble, and Darah Parks.
Carolyn was preceded in death by her parents; a sister, Jean Eddington; and her first husband, Ralph Parks, in 2012.
Visitation will be held Friday, June 6, 2025, from 3:00 pm until a Celebration of Life at 3:30 pm at Elias, Kallal and Schaaf Funeral Home in Bethalto with Pastor David Runyan officiating.
Her ashes will be interred at Rose Lawn Memory Gardens at a later date.
In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to Arms of Love Pregnancy Center or to the Charity of One's Choice.
