Carolyn F. Cannella, 77, passed away at 6:30 pm Friday, July 6, 2012 at her residence.
She was born in Michael, IL on July 20, 1934, the daughter of the late John & Anna (Ewen) Godar.
She married John J. Cannella at St. Patrick’s Catholic Church in Alton on May 12, 1962, they enjoyed 50 years of marriage. He survives
Carolyn was employed at St. Patrick’s Catholic School as a secretary for 9 years. She was a member of St. Mary's Catholic Church in Alton. She enjoyed walks through Glazebrook Park in Godfrey, watching her grandchildren play sports and spending time with her family and friends.
She is survived by two daughters and sons-in-law, Karen & Mark Crites of Alton and Julie & Reimund Zippmann of Godfrey; five grandchildren, Danielle Crites, Andrew & wife Beca Crites, Elizabeth Crites, Cody Zippmann and Cory & wife Casta Zippmann; one great granddaughter, Ava Crites; seven siblings and their spouses, Betty Spahr of Superior, CO, Jack & Blondie Godar of Alton, Mary Ellen Yeager of Ft. Collins, CO, Joyce & Ralph Zerr of Godfrey, Kathy & Clarence Schneider of St. Charles, MO, Neil & Nancy Godar of Godfrey and Jan & Tim Molloy of Alton and several nieces, nephews, cousins and friends.
In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her infant brother, Kenny Godar.
In celebration of her life, visitation will be from 9:30 a.m. until time of mass at 11:00 a.m. Wednesday, July 11, 2012 at St. Mary's Catholic Church in Alton with Fr. Jeremy Paulin O.M.V. celebrant.
Burial will be at St. Joseph's Cemetery in Alton.
Memorials may be made to the St. Mary's School in Alton.
