Carolyn Ann Carrow, 87, died at 10:20 a.m. Tuesday, June 3, 2025 at Cedarhurst of Godfrey.
Born September 30, 1937 in Alton, she was the daughter of James Carrol and Thelma (Shaw) Peters.
Carolyn graduated Alton High School in 1955 and Missouri Baptist School of Nursing in 1958. She also attended Lewis and Clark Community College from 1978-1979 and worked as a registered nurse for many years.
She married Leonard Todd in 1972. He preceded her in death in 1977. She married Dr. James Carrow in 1979 at St. Ambrose Catholic Church in Godfrey. He preceded her in death on May 24, 2019.
Mrs. Carrow was active in many service organizations and enjoyed volunteer work. She was a member of St. Mary’s Catholic Church in Alton.
Surviving are her step-children, Dr. Christopher Carrow and his wife Caren, Mary Ellen Heintz and her husband Dr. William Charles Heinz, Dr. Martin J. Carrow and his wife Linda, Mary Margaret Kopsie and her husband Michael, Mary Ann Jamieson, John Roy Carrow and his wife Dana, Mary Genevieve “Genna” Adams and her husband Sam, and two daughters-in-law, Janice (Tuttle) Carrow and Linda (Stemm) Carrow. Also surviving are 25 grandchildren and 35 great grandchildren.
Along with her parents and husbands, she was preceded in death by two step-sons, Timothy Carrow and Dennis Carrow.
Visitation will be from 9:00 a.m. – 10:45 a.m. Saturday, June 14, 2025 at Gent Funeral Home in Alton followed by a Mass of Christian burial at 11:00 a.m. at St. Ambrose Catholic Church in Godfrey. Father Steve Janoski will officiate. Burial will be at St. Patrick’s Cemetery in Godfrey.
Memorials may be made to St. Ambrose Catholic Church, St. Jude Children’s Research Hospital or the 5A’s Animal Shelter. The family would like to thank the staff at Cedarhurst and Absolute Health Care for taking great care of Carolyn.
