Caroline Goode

Batchtown |

Our sweet Caroline Posey Goode, 12, of Batchtown, IL was called home to Our Lord and Savior at 6:54 am on Saturday, June 14, 2025.

Born November 21, 2012, to Caleb and Angie Goode, she was her mother’s best friend and daddy’s princess. The keeper of her three bothers Jack, Charlie and Tommy. The love of her family and for her family was a gift that she treasured and celebrated, making her the amazing young lady that is Caroline.

Being her brothers’ biggest cheerleader during their sporting events was her most cherished title and she could often be seen on the sidelines proudly sporting their numbers and taking their pictures. She was a granddaughter that one dreams of and a niece and cousin that one brags about. She loved those around her deeply, especially her many teammates and friends. Whether dance, tumbling, cheer, volleyball, softball, or basketball she was her teammates’ biggest fan. Despite Caroline’s competitive heart, she’d easily choose everyone else’s success over her own.

She loved her St. Norbert School family strongly, considering the students as part of her extended family. With a joyful heart she regularly offered help and support to the teachers. She was the friend everyone wanted and the friend everyone wanted to be. As a calming force in a world of chaos Caroline made the invisible seen and the outsider included. She lifted others up so high they could almost touch Heaven.

Anyone in Caroline’s presence knew they were in the presence of something special, something amazing, something Christ-like. Caroline’s love of others was only outmatched by her love of God. Caroline’s love of her faith compelled her to share God’s message with her classmates. She never settled in her faith as she was always looking for ways to grow closer to God. Caroline took great pride in being a regular presence on God’s altar serving mass whether it be weekend, weekday, or to support a grieving family at a funeral mass.

Caroline’s love of God and service to others will continue to live on in the lives saved by this sweet soul through the miracle of organ donation. The miracle of Caroline’s life now becomes the miracle that will be celebrated by others due to the selfless act that defines her. Jesus was a part of Caroline’s whole being. From that belief, we know that Jesus will live on in the lives of the children Caroline was able to save with her gifts. Please continue to pray for the recipients of Caroline’s gift of life.

In addition to her parents and brothers, Caroline leaves behind maternal grandparents, Kelly and Debbie Sitton of Brighton; paternal grandparents, Gary and Sue Goode of Jerseyville; Aunts and Uncles Jarrod and Tina Russell of Fieldon, Jessica Goode of Nashville, TN, Michael Goode of Fort Myers, FL; cousins Clare and Grace Russell of Fieldon.

She was proceeded in death by William and Ilona Thomas, Oliver and Irma Sitton, Allen and Rosella Goode, and Elgie and Janice Posey.

Visitation will be held Friday, June 20, 2025, 4-8 pm at the Calhoun Elementary School Gym. Funeral Mass will be Saturday, June 21, 2025, 10 am at St. Norbert’s Catholic Church in Hardin. Burial will be at the Goode Family Cemetery in Batchtown. The family would like to invite all family and friends to join them for a meal at St. Joseph Hall in Meppen, IL following the service at the cemetery.

Memorials may be made to St. Norbert’s School.
