Carole Sue Snyders, 73, passed away at 2:43 PM on Thursday, February 24, 2022, at home surrounded by her loving family.
She was born on April 28, 1948, in Mozier, IL, a small town in Calhoun County, the daughter of Vernon and Virginia “Marlowe” (Nelson) Howland.
Carole married Gerald Snyders on October 26, 1968, at the Methodist Church in Hamburg, IL. He survives.
Carole retired with the United States Postal Service as a letter carrier for the city of Godfrey. Before the slogan “Life is Good” was ever coined, Carole lived this motto. Carole found great joy in planning get-togethers, entertaining family and friends, and hosting card parties. She loved to travel the world with her husband, family, and friends and looked forward every year to their annual trip to Aloha Lake. Carole was an excellent cook and took great pride in preparing weekly Sunday dinners, which was followed by card and board games. Above all, Carole’s biggest joy in life was her family, especially her grandsons, Vann and Chase.
In addition to her husband Gerald, Carole is survived by two children, Carrie (Brett) Hall of Godfrey, and Dustin Snyders of Godfrey; two grandsons, Vann Hall and Chase Hall; a sister-in-law, Jean Howland, and many nieces, nephews, extended family members, and good friends.
In addition to her parents, she is preceded in death by her siblings, Duane Howland and Phyllis Sidwell.
The family wishes to acknowledge with a heartfelt appreciation all the prayers, phone calls, and visits from friends and family in Carole’s last days. She truly cherished these last acts of kindness.
A Celebration of Life Visitation will be held Thursday, March 3, 2022, at 4 PM, followed by a Memorial Service at 7 PM at Elias, Kallal, and Schaaf Funeral Home in Godfrey.
Memorials are suggested to Shriners Hospitals for Children or St. Jude Children’s Research Hospital.
As a testament to the love Carole and Gerald shared for over 53 years:
You ask how long I'll love you; I'll tell you true: Until the twelfth of never, I'll still be loving you.
