Carol F. Neathery, age 80 of Greenville, passed away Thursday evening, June 19, 2025, at Greenville Nursing and Rehabilitation Center in Greenville.
Funeral service 1:00 p.m. Wednesday, July 2, 2025, at the Donnell – Wiegand Funeral Home in Greenville. Visitation will be held from 11:00 a.m. until service time. Interment will follow in Robinson Cemetery, Pocahontas, Illinois. Memorials in lieu of flowers and plants to the BCMW.
Carol Lansford, the daughter of Cline F. Lansford and Mabel Fern Bensil, was born December 26, 1944, in Hannibal, Missouri. Carol was raised in Bond County, lived in rural Pocahontas near Nuby’s, attended the local schools, and graduated from Greenville High School with the Class of 1962. Carol married Roger Neathery.
Carol loved people, she enjoyed working at Elam’s Café as a waitress, helping people at the nursing home and was a caregiver for other people for most of her life for many wonderful people. She also worked at Highland Supply and became disabled in 1990. That did not keep her from continuing being a great mother, grandmother and great-grandmother. She was a fantastic seamstress who loved to make quilts for all her family and friends.
She is survived by her children: Roger Neathery, Jr. and wife Missy of Kentucky, Bradley Neathery of Florida, Henry Metzger of Pocahontas, and stepsons: Brian Metzger of Pocahontas, and Rayme Metzger and wife Stephanie of Pocahontas. She was the loving grandmother to: Dalton, Misty, Lucas, Megan, Mary Beth, Kylee, Alexis, and Aiden. Great-grandmother to many and friend to all. Also surviving is a brother Larry Yowell.
Carol was preceded in death by a child in infancy in 1963, her parents, and a step-son Duane Metzger.
