Carla Jean (Rodgers) Long, 58, died suddenly at 6:36 a.m., Monday, July 11, 2011 in the emergency room at Jersey Community Hospital from complications of a two year struggle with ovarian cancer.She was born in Carrrollton on Sept. 28, 1952, one of five daughters born to Carl E. & Mary M. (McGiffen)  Rodgers.Carla was raised in Jerseyville, and attended Jersey Community High School.  She had worked at Sunderland Motor Company in Jerseyville for a number of years until she had a automobile accident which left her unable to work.  She loved her cats, spending time outdoors whether it was fishing, camping, or just taking rides through the country with her husband, Mike.She married Michael A. Long on Sept. 24, 1993 at the courthouse gazebo in Jerseyville, and he survives.Also surviving are her mother, Mary Rodgers of Jerseyville; two daughters and a son in law, Kimberly & Jesse Doran of Ft. Campbell, Ky., and Markee Richardson of Gilbertsville, Ky.; six grandchildren, Annedria, and her husband, Colby Kennedy of Texas, Ashley Woolsey and Rachel Woolsey both of Jerseyville, Austin Bruch of Ft. Campbell, Ky., Krista Vogt and Samantha Vogt both of Bethalto; two great grandchildren, MaKayla Woolsey of Jerseyville and Carrson Kenney of Texas; four sisters, Brenda Simms of Morton, Mary Ann Rodgers of Jerseyville, Ginger, and her husband, Wallace Morgan of Fieldon, and JoAlice Rodgers of Jerseyville; four nieces; two nephews.She was preceded in death by her father, and a daughter, Wilma Jean Richardson on Oct. 5, 1999.Visitation will be from 10:30 a.m. Thursday until time of funeral services at noon at Crawford Funeral Home in Jerseyville.  Rev. Robert McAdams will officiate.Burial will be in the Rosedale Cemetery.Memorials may be given to the family in care of the funeral home.
