Carl Regan Steiner, 58, died at 9:03 a.m. Wednesday, April 25, 2012 at Christian Hospital in St. Louis, MO. Born June 11, 1953 in Alton, he was the son of Carl E. and Mary Elizabeth (Hamilton) Steiner. Mr. Steiner retired from the Illinois Department of Transportation and was a member of the First Presbyterian Church in Alton. He was an avid gardener and outdoorsman and loved to fish on the river. Surviving is a son, Kelby Steiner of Godfrey, two brothers and sisters-in-law, Kim C. and Susie Steiner of State College, PA, Kyle J. and Martha Steiner of Godfrey, five nephews, Kyle Steiner and his wife Rebecca of Godfrey, Colten Steiner and his wife Kelly of Godfrey, Leif Steiner of Boulder, CO, Erik Steiner and his wife Bethany of Eugene, OR, and Tor Steiner and his wife Daisy of Sammamish, WA, a niece, Shana Stephenson and her husband Rick of Bethalto, and his former wife, Kathleen Figge Steiner of Godfrey. He was preceded in death by his parents and two brothers, Eric and Robert Steiner. Visitation will be from 2:00 p.m. until time of funeral service at 5:00 p.m. Monday, April 30, 2012 at Gent Funeral Home in Alton. Reverend David Crowley will officiate.
