Carl R. Tuchalski

Carl R. Tuchalski, age 87, passed away Saturday morning, July 17 2010.

He was born on May 2, 1923 in Staunton, IL to Charles and Lena (Seidel) Tuchalski. 

He married Gladys McCormick on August 14, 1945 in New York, NY. She survives.

Carl was employed at General Motors as a Cost Accountant. He served his country in the US Navy in 1943 to 1945 during WWII on the USS Jenks, part of the Guadalcanal group, and in 1950 in the Korean Conflict, as a Machinist Mate 1st Class. He was a member of the Alton VFW Post 1308, the DESA (Destroyer-Escort Sailors Association), the USS Guadalcanal Group CUE-60, and the Brown Street Baptist Church in Alton, IL. 

He is survived by his wife and one son and his spouse: Dennis and Rebecca Tuchalski of Alton, IL. a grandson and his wife: Clinton and Monica Followell of Waco, TX. A sister-in-law and her husband; Goldie and George Gentry of Hemet, CA. and several nieces and nephews.

He was preceded in death by his parents, and a daughter Marsha Followell. 

Visitation will be from 11 am till time of service at 12 noon on Tuesday July 20, 2010 at the Elias, Kallal & Schaaf Funeral Home in Alton. Reverend David Burman Officiating.

Burial will be at Valhalla Memorial Park in Godfrey, IL.  with the VFW Post 1308 of Alton performing military rites.

Memorials may be made to: Brown Street Baptist Church or the American Cancer Society.
