Carl Muckler

Saint Louis |

Carl Henry Muckler, 84, passed away unexpectedly at 10:16 a.m. on Sunday, June 15, 2025, at his cherished summer home in Chautauqua, Illinois. Born May 13, 1941, in Saint Louis, Missouri, Carl was the son of the late William and Jane (Kiffmeyer) Muckler.

He lived a life grounded in service - to his country, his community, his work, and most of all, his family. On September 2, 1967, he married Ruth Young in Saint Louis, and for nearly 58 years, they built a life together filled with love, devotion, and purpose.

Carl received bachelor and masters degrees from Winona State University. His professional and public life were marked by distinction and integrity. Carl was a veteran of the United States Army. From 1974 to 1980, he served three terms in the Missouri House of Representatives. Carl was a successful businessman and entrepreneur. He owned and operated River City Nutrition for 49 years.

Following retirement, Carl and Ruth relocated to Buckeye, Arizona, where he was a devoted member of St. Henry’s Catholic Church. Carl was an avid sports fan and enjoyed golf and poker with family and friends. He also enjoyed travelling with Ruth and tracing his family history. Carl never met a stranger and could find some type of a connection with anyone he met.

He is survived by his beloved wife, Ruth Muckler of Buckeye, Arizona; three children, Matt (Debbie) Muckler of Newton, Iowa, Melanie (Jim) Steinau of Cincinnati, Ohio, and Timothy Muckler of Saint Louis, Missouri; seven grandchildren who lit up his world, John, Clare, William, Kate, Audrey, Sydney, and Christian; and his brother, William Muckler of Florida.

The funeral Mass will take place on Thursday, July 3 at St. Henry Catholic Church in Buckeye, AZ. Fr. Billy Kosko will be the celebrant.
