Calvin L. Denny, 85, went to be with the Lord at 2:58 pm on Wednesday, January 12, 2011 at his home with his family by his side.
He was born on March 3, 1925, the son of Chester Lee and Maude (Farmer) Denny.
He married Chloe E. Grant on March 10, 1946 in Eldorado at her parent’s home. She survives.
Calvin served his country in the U.S. Army from 1943 to 1952, during WWII and the Korean Conflict. He was a service specialist for Hutton Ford for over 20 years, until his retirement on December 31, 1988. He was a member of the Bethalto Church of God. He loved to work on cars and fishing with his children and grandchildren.
In addition to his wife, he is survived by a daughter, Angela Moore of South Roxana; two grandchildren, Michael Moore of South Roxana and Jeffery Moore of Arizona; seven great grandchildren, Christopher, Devin, Austin, Brady, Nicholous, Eric and Hayden; a niece, Darris “Tippy” Lue Bonnell and a nephew, Donald Denny
He was preceded in death by his parents, a grandson, James Scott, a brother, Howard Denny, a niece, DeWana Toth and a nephew, William Denny.
Visitation will be from 2 to 4 pm Sunday, January 16, 2011 at the Bethalto Church of God, where funeral services will be at 10 am on Monday, January 17, 2011 with Pastor Jeremy Robinson officiating.
Burial will follow at Rose Lawn Memory Gardens in Bethalto.
