Cadence Ackles

Jerseyville |

Cadence Penelope Ackles, the unstoppable, bright-eyed, and joyful force of nature, passed away unexpectedly on Monday, October 21, 2024. Born on October 3, 2018, at Alton Memorial Hospital, Cadence was the daughter of Joshua and Ashley (Brannan) Ackles, and from the moment she arrived, she filled their world with laughter, light and boundless energy.

A kindergartner at West Elementary School in Jerseyville, Cadence was known for her huge heart and the countless friends she made. No one was a stranger in her world, and she had more friends than most could count. From sunup to sundown, life for Cadence was an adventure – and the outdoors was her kingdom. A true kid at heart, she couldn’t be kept inside. She spent her days outside, playing and exploring until her bath water turned gray from all the fun she had. She earned the nickname “The Cul-de-Sac Queen” in her neighborhood, ruling her little corner of the world with endless smiles, energy, and imagination.

Her love for toys was just the beginning – dinosaurs, Spider-Man, and Bluey were among her favorites. Much like Bluey, Cadence was “inexhaustible” – always up for an adventure and ready to turn ordinary moments into extraordinary memories. But if you ever asked her about her absolute top pick, it was always Ron’s Gone Wrong. She might’ve just been its biggest fan, watching it “millions of times”. Still, if there was a choice between TV and the outdoors, Cadence would always pick outside, rain or shine. When she wasn’t running around or getting into another outdoor adventure, you could find her on her beloved daily golf cart rides, whizzing around the neighborhood whether her parents were up for it or not.

Cadence loved the water and could be found swimming at Westlake pool on hot summer days. She was also proud to be a Daisy with Girl Scout Troop #77, spreading joy and excitement wherever she went. Her imagination and boundless energy left a mark on everyone she met – whether it was he family, friends, or the world of Bluey, where she could easily fit into an episode with her playful, kind heart.

In her short six years, she touched the lives of many. Whether it was through her daily antics, her infectious smile, or her unshakeable happiness, Cadence lived her life to the fullest.

In addition to her loving parents, she leaves behind her big sister, Ruby, who adored her with all her heart. Her grandparents, Jill and Charles Whitlock of Eldred, and Penelope “Penny” Brannan of Eldred, are heartbroken to say goodbye to their little sunshine. Great-grandmothers, Judy Hall of Godfrey, Eva Lou Cleveland of Carrollton, and Bonnie McGlasson of Jerseyville, will forever cherish her memory. Aunts, uncles, and cousins – Adam and Amanda Brannan (Madeline Jo and Cash James) of Eldred, Jason Ackles and Shane Parish, of Maryland Heights, Missouri, Jocelyn and Michael Robinson (Rayne, Riley and Myra) of Alton, and Jared and Kimberli Ackles (Bronte) of New Albany, Indiana – will forever remember her laughter and love.

She now joins her Papa Gregory “Fuzzy” Brannan; great grandparents, Edward Hall, James Brannan, Leo Cleveland and Robert McGlasson.

Though she may no longer be with us, remember her in the words of Bluey: “Remember I am always here for you, even if you can’t see me, because I love you.” Cadence’s love and laughter will remain with her family and friends always, and her joyful spirit will continue to inspire extraordinary adventures in their hearts.

Visitation will be held from 4 to 7 p.m., Tuesday, October 29, 2024 at Crawford Funeral Home in Jerseyville, where funeral services will be conducted at 10 a.m., Wednesday.

Burial will follow at Oak Grove Cemetery in Jerseyville.

Memorials may be given to Girl Scout Troop #77, so Cadence’s spirit can continue to inspire others.

Cadence, your light may have dimmed too soon, but your playful soul will shine on forever.
