Brian "Scott" Claxton, age 43, passed away at 12 p.m. on Saturday, February 13, 2010 at Barnes Jewish Hospital in St. Louis.
He was born in Alton on June 9, 1966 the son of Leonard and Ruth (Holman) Claxton. Scott married the former Mitzi Fugate January 30, 2007 in Las Vegas, NV.
Scott was a bricklayer for 25 years. He loved the outdoors, camping, boating and working with his hands. He dearly loved his family and especially his kids. He also enjoyed spending time with childhood friends Robbie Ruyle, Curt Ennis and Skip Moore. Scott never knew a stranger and loved his dogs Dixie, Boots and Bo.
Scott is survived by his wife Mitzi, his father, three daughters Chelsey and her spouse John Cagle of Godfrey, Brittany Claxton of Jerseyville, Beth Claxton of Jerseyville, one son Josh Claxton of Jerseyville, one step son David McCoy of Jerseyville, one grandson Caden Cagle, one brother David and his spouse Tina Claxton of Orlando, FL, three sisters Cynthia and her spouse Rick Hornsey of Alton, Melodie and spouse Gary Gaddy of Alton, and Rebecca Claxton and her companion Andy Roberts of Alton. He is also survived by his mother in law & father in law John and Betty Fugate of Dow, four sisters Kim and spouse Bruce Kendall of Pawnee, IL, Debbie Fitzgibbons of Alton, Pam and spouse Chey Hartley of Dow and Penny and spouse Marion Gauntt of Jerseyville.
His mother, Ruth, preceded him in death.
Visitation will be from 5 to 7 pm Tuesday February 16, 2010 at Elias, Kallal and Schaaf Funeral Home in Alton with services following at 7 pm with Rev. Kenneth Morgan officiating. Cremation will follow.
Memorials may be directed to his wife Mitzi Fugate to help cover medical and funeral expenses.
