Brian Sean Charlton, 65, died at 9:43 a.m. Thursday, January 16, 2025 at Jerseyville Manor surrounded by his family.

Born May 24, 1959 in Moultrie, GA, he was the son of Mara (Staikoff) Charlton of Rohnert Park, CA, and the late Ed Charlton. 

Mr. Charlton served in the U.S. Air Force and worked as a pawn broker for many years for Kay’s Pawn Shop in Granite City until he retired in 2022. On September 10, 1994 he married the former Julie A. Poddig. She preceded him in death. 

Surviving along with his mother are five daughters, Kim Dondanville (Jeff) of Godfrey, Angel Adam (Travis) of Godfrey, Jessica Dickey (Nate) of Granite City, Holly Murray (Josh) Ringgold, GA, and Amy Roulanaitis of Troy, IL, one son, Sean Charlton of Godfrey, nine grandchildren, Lily, Alex, Tyler, McKenna, Jonah, Harper, Grayson, Liam and Dash. 

Along with his father, he was preceded in death by a brother, Terry Charlton.  He was a wonderful dad, the best poppa to his grandkids, loved rock music and a good Bloody Mary. He was so loved and will be greatly missed. 

Visitation will be from 10 a.m. until time of funeral service at 12 p.m. Wednesday, January 22, 2025 at the Holy Cross Lutheran Church in Collinsville. Reverend Kyle Wright will officiate. 

Burial will be at the Holy Cross Lutheran Church Cemetery in Collinsville.
