Bonna J. Steffen, 79, passed away at 11:41pm on Sunday, December 11, 2011, in the emergency room at Alton Memorial Hospital. She was born on October 10, 1932, in Hartford, Illinois the daughter of the late Archie and Faye (Roe) Stone. She married Walter "Wally" Steffen on July 21, 1951, in Wood River and he survives. Other survivors include one son and daughter in law: Michael and Pauline Steffen of Humble, Texas, one grandson: Eric Steffen of Lake City, Texas, one brother: Edward Stone of Rosewood Heights, one niece and her husband: Debbie and John Sandbach of Wood River, two nephews: Vince Stone of Wood River, Vance Stone and his wife: Carol of Florida, several cousins, and a special friend: Ona Mae Vint of St. Louis, Missouri.
She was formerly employed as a packer at Owens - Illinois Glass Works as a packer and in the scheduling department prior to her retirement. She enjoyed working on crafts and being in the R.V. She attended the Assembly of God Church in Wood River.
She was preceded in death by her parents and one brother: Lyle "Pete" Stone.
In celebration of her life, visitation will be from 4pm to 8pm on Wednesday, December 14, 2011, at Pitchford Funeral Home. Funeral services will be held at 10am on Thursday, December 15, 2011, at the funeral home. Rev. Frank Sparks will officiate. Burial will follow at Valhalla Memorial Park in Godfrey.
Memorials are suggested to the Assembly of God Church in Wood River of New Hope Baptist Church in Hartford.
