Bob Neal Russell, 72, passed away at 4:46 p.m. on Sunday, April 6, 2025, at his residence in Godfrey, IL.
He was born on December 26, 1952, in Granite City, IL, to Carl and Mary (Yost) Russell.
Bob married Linda Elaine Rose on May 26, 1973, in Godfrey, IL.
He worked as a smelter for Olin Brass Mill. Bob was passionate about fishing in Minnesota, gardening, landscaping, and working at the greenhouse. He also enjoyed coaching softball. Bob was an avid St. Louis Cardinals fan and a supporter of the St. Louis Billikens.
He was a proud band dad and enjoyed watching college softball. In his free time, Bob could often be found watching TV, especially the rodeo, basketball, and softball.
He is survived by his loving wife, Linda; son, Chris (Alaina) Russell; daughters, Laura (Joe) Hardin and Jenny (Jeff) Horton; grandchildren, Isabella, Carter, Aiden, Kamille, Norah, Andrew, Jonathan, Savannah, Aubree, Avery, Ryland, and Jase; sister, Sharen Sahndrow; and several nieces and nephews.
Bob was preceded in death by his parents, his mother-in-law, Juanita "Alice" Cooper; father-in-law, O'Dell Rose; sister, Gloria Marshall; and brother, Herb Crews.
Visitation will be held on Wednesday, April 9, 2025, from 4 to 7 p.m. at Elias, Kallal & Schaaf Funeral Homes - Godfrey, Illinois.
Funeral services will take place on Thursday, April 10, 2025, at 10 a.m. at Elias, Kallal & Schaaf Funeral Homes - Godfrey, Illinois with Craig Cottingham officiating.
Burial will follow at Valhalla Memorial Park.
Memorials are suggested to the Leukemia and Lymphoma Society.
