Blake Edward Hampton, 17, died at 6:12 p.m. Friday, August 27, 2010 at St. Louis University Hospital.
He was born in Clayton, MO on February 27, 1993, the son of, Tonya (Herter) Eddinger and step-father, Craig Eddinger of Godfrey and his father, Scott Hampton of Clinton, IL. He attended Alton High School and was a member of Faith Lutheran Church in Godfrey. He was formerly employed by the Gateway Grizzlies Ball Park. Blake loved all sports, especially soccer and baseball and was a Chicago Cubs fan. He was interested in perusing a career in sports medicine.
Along with his parents, he is survived by two brothers, Scott Edward Hampton II and Jordan Edward Hampton both of Godfrey, a half sister, Samantha Hampton of Missouri, his maternal grandparents, Judy and Edward Herter of Hardin. He was preceded in death by his grandmother and step grandfather, Carol Hediger and Dr. Edward Hediger and his grandfather, Sherill Hampton.
Visitation will be from 4:00-8:00 p.m. Monday at Gent Funeral Home in Alton. Funeral services will be at 10:30 a.m. Tuesday at Faith Lutheran Church in Godfrey. Burial will be at St. Norbert’s Cemetery in Hardin. Reverend Kelly Mitteis will officiate.
