Billy James Roark, 89, died at 12:32 a.m. Thursday, January 21, 2021 at Alton Memorial Hospital. Born September 10, 1931 in New Haven, IL, he was the son of James Henry and Mamie E. (Chitwood) Roark.
Mr. Roark was a member of the Community Christian Church in Alton and retired as the owner/operator of Alton Beauty Supply. He loved gardening and wood working and volunteering at his church.
On January 3, 1981 he married the former Mary Louise Hartman in Roxana. She survives. Also surviving are two sons, Michael L. Roark (Susan) of Godfrey and James W. Roark (Pegeen) of Northport, FL, six grandchildren, Angie Pestka, Craig Roark, Sean Roark, Joshua Roark, Kristin Roark and Colleen Almadovar, and 8 great grandchildren.
Along with his parents, he was preceded in death by a brother, Ernie Roark and two sisters, Leona Sanders and Flo Evelyn Hall.
Services will be private at Gent Funeral Home in Alton.
Pastor Dave Burger will officiate. Burial will be at Upper Alton Cemetery.
