Betty McNabb

Betty Jean McNabb, 94, of Hardin, Illinois, passed away peacefully on November 6, 2025, at Jersey Community Hospital.

She was born on September 20, 1931, in Jerseyville, Illinois, the daughter of Harry and Edna (Watts) Krause. On February 16, 1957, she married J. Patrick “Pat” McNabb, and together they shared 40 years of marriage until his passing in 1997. In 2001, she moved to Liberty, IL, to be closer to family, and in 2021, to Jerseyville to be close to her sisters.

Betty worked for many years as a bookkeeper at Rice Seed Company in Jerseyville and after moving to Hardin at the Hardin Ford Garage and Hardin Farm Bureau. She also faithfully served as Treasurer for both the Calhoun County Medical Center and Hardin Presbyterian Church for many years. A devoted member of the Hardin Presbyterian Church, Betty cherished her church family and remained an active participant as long as she was able. She was also involved in the Hardin Women’s Club and found great joy in volunteering at the Hardin Reading Room Library and the American Legion of Hardin—especially helping make their annual apple pies.

Betty was deeply proud of her children and grandchildren, embracing with love and grace the many paths their lives took across the country and around the world.

She is survived by her children Jeannie (Monty) Martin of Liberty, IL; Phil (Janice) McNabb of Eagle, ID; and Bill (Sandy) McNabb of Falls Church, VA; her grandchildren Lindsey (Luke) Beffa of Solon, OH; Cody Martin of Rogers, AR; Kelsey Martin (Hali Goodrich) of Boise, ID; Hallie McNabb (Claude Paschoud) of Konolfingen, Switzerland; Hanna (Ben) Chan of Fountain, CO; Austin (Kelsey) McNabb of Four Oaks, NC; Meghan (Al) Levinson of Alexandria, VA; Gavin McNabb of Plymouth, NH; and Torrie McNabb of Columbia, MO; and her great-grandchildren Thatcher Beffa, Eleanor, and Jackson McNabb, and Austyn Chan.

She is also survived by her sisters Anna Belle Bartels and Roberta Egelhoff of Jerseyville, sister-in-law Melba Krause of Paducah, KY, and many nieces and nephews.

Betty was preceded in death by her parents, her husband Pat, and her brother Robert Krause.

Visitation will be held on Saturday, November 15, 2025, from 10:00 a.m. until time of service at 11:00 a.m. at the Hardin Presbyterian Church. Burial will follow at Hardin Cemetery.

Memorials are suggested to the Hardin Presbyterian Church.
