Betty L. Tarrant, 94, went to be with the Lord on Saturday, December 12, 2020 at her home surrounded by her family. She was born November 5, 1926 in Alton, the daughter of Arthur 'Glen' and Anna (Reeder) Nichols. She married Elvis L. Tarrant on March 15, 1947 in Alton. He preceded her in death on May 26, 2013. She was a member of Cornerstone Assembly of God Church in Bethalto. She was a loving mother, grandmother, great-grandmother and sister who devoted her life to the Lord and her family. She is survived by two daughters and sons-in-law, Cindy and Russ Nieters of Godfrey and Tracey and Vern Wallace of Dow; five grandchildren, Jeremy Yates and wife, Amanda, Ashley Yates, Brooke Wallace, Jonathan Nieters, Shaun Nieters and wife Kari; and three great-grandchildren, Kaylie Yates, Kenzie Yates and Lillian Thiel, two brothers, Roger and Robert Nichols, and one sister, Carol Sorgea. In addition to her parents and husband, she was preceded in death by her daughter, Pam Sandberg, her sister, Hope Harmon and two brothers, Gordon and Marvin Nichols. Visitation will be from 9:30 a.m. until time of funeral service at 11:30 a.m. Saturday, December 19, 2020 at Cornerstone Church in Bethalto. Pastor Erik Scotberg will officiate. Burial will be at Rose Lawn Memory Gardens in Bethalto. CDC Guidelines will be observed with regard to occupancy and mask wearing. Memorials may be made to Gent Funeral Home.
