Betty L. Melton, passed away at 6:35 p.m, Friday, April 8, 2011 at her home with her family by her side, under the care of BJC Hospice.
She was born on June 20, 1931, in Alton, IL, to the late Willard & Bessie (Johnson) Mason.
She married Frederick Melton in Wood River on November 28, 1975. He passed away October 24, 1998.
Betty was of the Baptist faith. She loved to watch the St. Louis Cardinals, play cards at the Cousins Club and enjoyed gardening, bird watching, and spending time with her family and friends.
She is survived by seven children and their spouses, Jessica & Kevin Gebeau of Glen Carbon, David & Susan Yost of Alton, Jeffrey & Vicki Yost &Sue Midgett of Alton, ChrisYost of Alton, Kathy & David Pratto of Collinsville, Sylvia & Jerry Lewis of Godfrey and Paul & Helma Yost of KY; one sister-in-law, Loretta Mason of Alton; onebrother-in-law, Wayne Hubbert of Alton; one niece, Susie McKee; three nephews, Mike, Kevin, and Scott Hubbert; sixteen Grandchildren and seventeen great grandchildren; and her dearest friend Lois Bridges.
She was preceded in death by her parents; three brothers, Donald, Willard and Edwen Mason and one sister, Marlyn Hubbert.
Visitation will be from 12pm until funeral services at 12:30pm on Tuesday, April 12, 2011, at the Elias, Kallal and Schaaf Funeral Home in Alton.
Burial will follow at Jefferson Barracks National Cemetery in St. Louis, MO.
