Betty Jean Schelm, 76, died at 12:25 p.m., Saturday, June, 25, 2011 at Jerseyville Nursing and Rehab. She was born January 8, 1935 in Alton, IL the daughter of the late Les and Mary F. (Alston) Darnell.
On June 25, 1953 in Clinton, IL she married Kenneth L. Schelm and he preceded her in death on December 11, 1997.
Surviving are one son; Michael Schelm of Brighton; one grandchild; Raymond Schelm and his companion; Amy Dunham, two great grandchildren; Alayna and Ashlynn Schelm, a daughter in law; Karen Schelm of Brighton, one brother; Stephen Darnell of Collinsville, one brother in law; Charlie Campbell of Alton. She was preceded in death by one son; K. Rodney Schelm, and one sister; Joann Campbell.
Visitation will be from 4:00-8:00 p.m. on Wednesday, June 29, 2011 at Gent Funeral Home in Alton, where funeral services will be at 10:00 a.m. Thursday with Reverend Randy Butler officiating. Burial will be at Godfrey Cemetery. Memorials may be made to ALS Foundation.
