Bertie D. Rogers, age 96, died Sunday, Jan. 27, 2013, at the Okeechobee Health Care Facility. Born June 8, 1916, to Will and Bertha Miller in Savannah, Tn., Bertie was a resident of West Alton, Mo. before relocating to Okeechobee in 1978.
She was a member of the First Baptist Church of Okeechobee, the VFW Post 4219 Auxiliary in Portage Des Sioux, Mo. and the Order of the Eastern Star 242 in St. Charles, Mo. Bertie was also an avid quilter.
She was preceded in death by her husband, Harold D. Rogers; a son, James H. Rogers; brother, Ancel Miller; and four sisters, Willie Larson, Gladys Mathes, Cessel Jenkins, and Josephine Miller. Survivors include her daughter-in-law, Janice Rogers of St. Charles Mo.; granddaughters, Jennifer (Brian) Price of St. Peters, Mo., Jamie Rogers of St. Charles, Mo.; great-grandsons, Tyler Price and Joshua Rogers; a brother, Douglas (Carolyn) Miller of Phelan, CA.; sisters-in-law, Ruth Dark and Loretta B. Smith, both of Okeechobee; and many nieces and nephews.
Graveside services will be held at 2 pm Saturday July 20, 2013 at Ebenezer Cemetery in West Alton.
