Bert Dolan, 95, passed away peacefully on Saturday, March 3l, 2012 with family at her side. Bert was an active member of Frist United Methodist Church in Alton for over 50 years. Because of health problems she moved to Texas, to live with her daughter, son-in-law and faithful companion Buster, in 2007. Before moving to Texas, she lived at the United Methodist Village in Godfrey for l0 years and loved her friends there and missed them very much. Bert retired at age 59 from a job as medical secretary so that she and her husband John could enjoy their many interests, which included travel with Leisure Friends, fishing trips with friends, playing cards, gardening, and enjoying life. Bert was born on January 1, l9l7 in Murray, Missouri to Frank and Sallie Coons. She married John Dolan on February 5, l938 and they had 58 wonderful years together before his death in l996. Bert was preceded in death by her parents, 3 sisters, and her husband. She leaves behind to cherish the memories we have of her, her children: Stephen Dolan and daughter- in- law Sharon of Godfrey, Pat Griffin and son-in-law John of Texas and Mike Dolan of Key West, Fla., Also surviving are her dear grandchildren. Jenny Grabner and husband Keith, Kellie Stargaard and husband Mikkel, Beth Martin and husband Brian, John Thompson, Lisa Rose and husband Walker, Jim Thompson and wife Tammy, Chris Klunk and husband Larry, Ron Robeen and wife Jan, Joe Robeen and wife Connie. Also surviving are l5 great-grandchildren. We are thankful that Bert got to know and love her 15 greats and they in turn got to know and love her. Visitation will be from 4:00-7:00 p.m. Wednesday, April 4, 2012 at Gent Funeral Home in Alton where funeral services will be at 1:00 p.m. Thursday, April 5, 2012. Reverend Don E.
