Bernice A. Baumann, 83, died at 5:29 p.m. Thursday, July 28, 2011 at St. Anthony’s Hospital. Born July 21, 1928 in Kampsville, IL, she was the daughter of William and Rosa (Nord) Lehr. She was a member of SS Peter & Paul Catholic Church in Alton and a lifetime member of the VFW Ladies Auxiliary. On November 16, 1946 in Kampsville, she married Eugene J. Baumann. He preceded her in death on December 6, 1979. Surviving are two daughters and sons-in-law, Tracy and Ray McGuire of Godfrey and Patricia and Jim Roach of Jerseyville, one son and daughter-in-law, Charles and Jo Ann Baumann of Alton, seven grandchildren, nine great grandchildren, one brother, Elmer Lehr of Kampsville, and two sisters, Junie Richards of Peoria, and Edie Townser of Jerseyville. She was preceded in death by her parents, husband, and a brother, Eugene Lehr. Visitation will be from 4:00-6:00 p.m. Wednesday at Gent Funeral Home in Alton where funeral services will be at 9:00 a.m. Thursday. Burial will be at St. Anselms Cemetery in Kampsville. In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to a charity of choice.
